NDIS plan manager

Meet Lisa Randall, one of the friendly faces you might’ve come across at Disability Plan Services. As an NDIS Plan Manager, Lisa is passionate about ensuring participants have everything they need to get the most out of their NDIS plan.

Lisa decided to pursue a career in NDIS Plan Management after sustaining an injury which left her unable to fulfil her duties as a carer. Prior to this career path, Lisa worked as a financial planner and decided that plan management could be a way to combine two passions of hers – caring for people, and finance.

Like any great NDIS Plan Manager, Lisa’s favourite part of her role is meeting new participants and helping them with their NDIS journey.

“Self-managing one’s plan can be challenging at times. For example, doing things like paying invoices on time and understanding all the various facets of the NDIA, which can be tricky and time consuming,” says Lisa. “Engaging an NDIS Plan Manager takes the stress out of the equation and the participant can focus on what is more important – themselves and the services they need.”

Here is a sneak peek of Lisa’s typical daily schedule as an NDIS Plan Manager at Disability Plan Services:

09.00 am to 10.00 am                   It’s time to kickstart the day! Lisa uses this time to prepare for her day ahead. “At this time, I follow up any messages left on our phones from participants looking to book a pre-planning meeting to prepare for a plan review, or check how much funding they have remaining in a certain budget,” says Lisa.

10.00 am to 10.30 am                   After she’s up to speed on any outstanding tasks from the previous day, it’s straight into one of the detail-oriented tasks an NDIS Plan Manager undertakes – doing reconciliation reports. “This is where I match NDIA payments received with Service Provider invoices,” says Lisa.

10.30 am to 01.00 pm                   Once mid-morning arrives, it’s time to work through emails and respond to participants, or enter provider invoices for payment. As you can imagine, working in NDIS Plan Management means Lisa receives quite a few emails in her work day and Lisa allows this time to respond to her clients, check-in with those she hasn’t spoken to in a little while, and make sure everyone is happy with their current plan. If any clients are due for a plan review, Lisa will also arrange a time to prepare them for their meeting with the NDIA.

01.30 pm to 04.00 pm                   For the rest of the day, it’s back to carrying out administrative tasks for her participants, including phone calls with providers or providing financial reporting for clients. She also uses this time to meet with participants or providers to ensure she is providing the best possible service to new or existing clients.

As an NDIS Account Manager, you are required to prioritise the needs of participants to ensure their plan meets their individual wants and needs. To provide the best possible service that she can, Lisa ensures she takes time out in her week to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. That’s why Lisa also prioritises spending her weekends doing what she loves most. “I love to read,” says Lisa. “I also love getting out and about in the outdoors, like at the beach or going camping.”

Why it pays to choose Disability Plan Services as your plan management provider

As an NDIS participant, you have complete choice and control over how your funding is managed. You have three main options for the management of your NDIS funding. You can choose for your budget to be agency managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), you can manage it yourself (self-managed), or you can choose to work with a registered, independent NDIS Plan Manager, such as Disability Plan Services. Our website has a comprehensive comparison of these options.
